Songs, Singers, Music and Lyricists

THE DIFFERENCE IN MUSIC

I would like to share  a fact, ask your self "How many singers do you know?". You may have countless names , now  ask "How many lyricists do you know?". Your answer- may be few. Those who have a deep interest in music may give some names but for ordinary person its a difficult one.

Yogesh Gaur, a brilliant Lyricist
People just remember the face of the person who sings on the screen but don't even know the name of person who has written that beautiful song. Its the fact you can't deny. Someone asked me if I like Atif Aslam's songs or not because he sings very good songs, all have good meaning. I clarified ,he may have good voice but the content he sings is written by someone else viz. Piya O Re Piya (Tere naal love ho gya- movie) is sung by Atif but only few know Mayur Puri has written that song. Similarly old melodies sung by likes of Kishore Kumar ,  Rafi, Manna De are just known to be part of their discography but their writers are known only to Wikipedia, like "Zindagi Kaisi hai Paheli". sung by Manna De and written by..? Yogesh Gaur. Anyone knows him apparently no or only few. He was recently seen in "WAH WAH KYA BAAT HAI" on SABTV ,publicaly and despite being such a good writer, he has not got a single award that he deserved. That's too harsh.

In India , majority listens Bollywood music.I hardly see admirers of Indian Classic Music. The Bollywood music is getting worse day by day. The item songs may make you dance on the floor, but its contents are in  no way good, the impact they have on small kids is too bad. Imagine your 4 year girl singing "Pallu k neeche chupa k" at her b'day party, it may seem cute but that thing is going to imprint her mind, now think her as a 21 year old and singing same and dancing at her b'day party, as a father you wont gonna like it. This verbal vulgarity should be stopped. There should be a meaning in a song not just a trash.

I have been following western music from past 8 years, there are bands like
Linkin Park, Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, singer  Adele and many more if you listen them you will notice the things they sing , they are the one who write it, so credit of success of songs goes to them only and believe me they write too good not a trash.

Here is a link for "A Thousand Suns" by Linkin Park

Don't listen a  random track , listen it as a whole album, then you will realize  the excellence of the artist.
This creativity is missing in Indian Music.

Lastly , I am too a lyricists, and I know its hard to write one single song , but I personally think writing bullshit is just the waste of your talent. Write good and clean. And next time you hear a song try to find out its writer before you start praising the song.   One last thought , do you know Vikku Vinayak or Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, these are the Grammy Award winners. They don't have any Bollywood music track. They are classical musician. Now just think why our Bollywood singers never won a Grammy , but our classical ones did.
